Sometimes you just need rubbish gone. Not a clearance, not a furniture collection — just the accumulated stuff that no longer fits in the bins, that the council will not take, or that you cannot face transporting to the recycling centre yourself. Edinburgh Clearance offers a booked-in rubbish removal service: we arrive with the van and the labour, you point at what you want gone, and we deal with everything else.

What We Take

Household clutter of all kinds: old toys, old kitchenware, broken electricals, redundant clothing, accumulated boxes from the garage. Garden waste in any quantity: hedge cuttings, branches, bagged grass, old turf, dead pot plants, broken garden furniture. Construction debris from small DIY jobs: old tiles, removed kitchen units, ripped-up carpet, bagged plaster. Bagged general waste. Bric-à-brac, broken furniture, old mattresses, anything else that genuinely needs to leave your property.

How It Works

We agree a load size at booking — typically quoted by approximate cubic-yard equivalent (a quarter-van load, half-van load, three-quarter load, full-van load), or by skip-equivalent (mini-skip, midi-skip, builders-skip volumes). On the day, the team arrives with the van, loads everything you have pointed out, sweeps up afterwards, and removes the lot. You pay the agreed price at the end. No surprises. No demands to load it yourself first.

Why Use Us Instead of a Skip

Several reasons. Skips need a council permit if they sit on the road, which can take a week and adds substantially to cost. They sit visible for days, attracting fly-tippers. They cannot legally contain mattresses, fridges, electricals, plasterboard or hazardous waste. They have a fixed footprint that may not suit your driveway. And someone — usually you — still has to do the loading. A booked-in collection from us is faster, neater, often cheaper, and we do the labour.

Recycling and Disposal

We are SEPA-licensed waste carriers (registration available on request). Everything we collect is taken to licensed transfer stations and recycling facilities. Garden waste goes to composting, metals go to scrap recycling, electricals go to WEEE recyclers, hardcore goes to inert recycling. Waste transfer notes are provided at completion for landlord or business clients who need them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to bag everything up first?

No. We bring our own bags, sheets and bins. We sweep up loose items, bag what needs bagging, and we leave the area tidy.

Can you take rubbish from a flat upstairs?

Yes. Stairs are no problem. We carry it down.

Do you take garden waste?

Yes, in any quantity. Composted at licensed facilities.

What about old paint, weedkiller, or other chemicals?

Yes, in domestic quantities. We dispose of hazardous waste through appropriate licensed channels. Tell us roughly what is there at booking.

Will you take a single mattress?

Yes — single-item collection works exactly the same as multi-item. We accept mattresses in any condition; they are recycled where possible (mattress recycling has improved enormously in recent years) or sent for energy recovery where not.
