About Haddington
Haddington is one of Scotland's most attractive market towns, granted royal burgh status by King David I in the 12th century. The town's medieval street plan survives largely intact, and St Mary's Collegiate Church — the largest parish church in Scotland — has stood beside the Tyne since the 14th century. John Knox was likely born here around 1505. Haddington served as a major agricultural and market centre throughout its history, and remains the administrative capital of East Lothian.
